 Makay White
I am a Master's student in the Microbiology and Molecular Biology Department. My project in Dr. Chaston's lab is to create bacterial mutants and test causation of bacterial genes on fly phenotypes. In April 2015 I received my Bachelor's degree from BYU in Microbiology and I think that bacteria are the coolest! I recently married my sweet husband Jacob in July of this year. My hobbies include piano, racquetball and basically any outdoor activity (hiking, biking, camping....). I claim Wenatchee, WA as my hometown.

Lindy Koyle
I was born and raised in Meridian, Idaho and am an Idaho girl through and through. I enjoy dancing, playing the piano, and spending time outdoors. Currently, I am a Senior at BYU. My major is Genetics and Biotechnology with an emphasis in animal genetics. I have been working for Dr. Chaston for 2 years now. There was a short break in there when I got the opportunity of a lifetime to do a study abroad in Jerusalem. Currently, I am studying how bacteria affects the lifespan of fruit flies. I love every minute of it!
Corinne Penrod
I am currently a sophomore studying Bioinformatics. When I’m not glued to my computer, I love to play the piano and hang out with my nieces. I’m originally from Southern California and love the beach and warm weather.
Bethany Banks
I'm currently a freshman at BYU. I've lived too many places to count but I claim Connecticut as home. I love traveling, horseback riding, and hiking. Growing up with a gastrointestinal disorder gave me a passion for medicine that I plan to pursue in graduate school. As for my current studies, I haven't declared a major but Genetics & Biotechnology is quickly stealing my heart. That being said, life is short. I want to make it short and awesome.

Andrew Bratsman
I am currently a senior working towards acceptance at medical school. Studying biophysics, I love the excitement of sports and getting outdoors for some one-on-one time with mother nature. Going on my second semester in a research lab, I can not get enough of the excitement of research, and a list of my favorite animals would definitely feature drosophilia very near the top of the list. Originally from Houston, Texas, I always enjoy a good cowboy joke or southern pecan pie.
Alec Judd
I am a junior studying Genetics and Biotechnology with my sights on medical school. My interest in Genetics and Biotech started when I discovered that I have limited innervation to my left deltoid muscle and began to search for my own cure through relevant, developing technologies. Some of my favorite things are volleyball, arranging music, and making my mother laugh.

Kyle Olsen
My name is Kyle Olsen. I am from Boise, Idaho and this is my first semester working under Dr. Chaston. I am a Genetics and Biotechnology Major, sports enthusiast, and eccentric daredevil.
Hayden Smith
I’m from Portland, Oregon and love doing anything outside where I can pit myself against mother nature. With that said I enjoy doing science and research here at BYU. I’m majoring in both Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology and minoring in Computer Science. I’ve worked in a few labs but this is my first semester with Dr. Chaston.
Brad Stephenson
I’m Brad Stephenson! I’m currently a junior in the Bioinformatics major at BYU. I enjoy hanging out with my family, board and card games, racquetball, and adventuring in general.
Donald Ford
I am a Bioinformatics major here at BYU. I am a native of Colorado and enjoy doing a wide range of things, from playing the guitar or spending time at the rec center to simply enjoying the company of family and friends. I plan on furthering my studies at grad school and getting a PhD. I love understanding how things work and hope to understand them better by involvement in scientific research. Oh and food. I like food too.

My name is Toree Lammel and I am from Nevada. I knew as soon as I came to BYU that I wanted to study genetics and I never changed my major so here I am nearly four years later in the final phases of my Genetics and Biotechnology degree. I interned at a crime lab in the summer of 2014, and I am currently working in Dr. Chaston's lab on campus so that I can further develop my laboratory skills before I graduate.

Rebekah Rushforth
I am currently a freshman studying Genetics and Biotechnology. I plan to pursue a career as a Genetic Counselor. I became interested in genetics in high school when I met a special needs student who knew his challenges were part of his life on earth and that they would be overcome through the gospel. I want to help people understand this like he did. I love color guard and music. I volunteer at an elementary school teaching dance to 6th grade students. I love everything about working in this lab.

Rachel Hughes
My name is Rachel Hughes, and I was born and raised in the exotic town of Elwood Utah. I am currently a sophomore at BYU studying genetics and biotechnology with an emphasis in microbial genetics. I love running, hiking, science, and doughnuts.

Laura Cooper
I'm a junior majoring in Genetics and Biotechnology from Vacaville, CA. When I have a study break, I enjoy writing, singing, and distance running. I hope to go to graduate school in human genetics after I graduate from BYU. I'm excited to work with some great people and bacteria this year!

Amber Walters

I am a junior studying Genetics and Biotechnology in preparation to attend medical school. I chose this major as a result of accidental enrollment in the wrong biology course during my second semester as an undergrad, and have never looked back! Within the first 5 minutes of the genetics portion of the course, I was hooked! When not attending to course work or fruit flies, I enjoy reading, distance running, and watching planet earth episodes with my husband.
